In January and February 2008, the financial results of all Ukrainian companies – profit or loss before interest and tax – increased by 4.23 billion hryvnias, or 40 percent year-on-year, to 15.03 billion hryvnias, according to the State Statistics Committee.
In January and February, 65.5 percent of Ukrainian companies earned a profit (small firms, public institutions and agricultural enterprises not included). Their aggregate profit amounted to 21.39 billion hryvnias.
In contrast, 34.5 percent of companies posted losses. Their aggregate loss totaled 4.08 billion hryvnias.
UNIAN reference: In 2007, the aggregate before-tax profit of the Ukrainian companies increased by 51.2 billion hryvnias, or 73 percent over 2006, to 121.44 billion hryvnias. In 2007, 71.1 percent of all companies were profitable, and their aggregate profit reached 147.26 billion hryvnias. In that same year, 28.9 percent of companies were unprofitable and posted aggregate losses of 25.82 billion hryvnias.
